I cleaned up the parts, and gave them a coat of paint. With the bushing pressed in properly,I started to put things back together, including new shock absorber.
Being a newb here, it is great to see the detail work going on in this thread. Does give me a second guess as to why I want a C Body when some other cars have parts accessibility much better than the C Bodies do.
Now the engine issues have me guessing also. If 383's have issues with parts availability, I would guess a 318 Poly would even be worse!

!welcome !welcome !welcome Chris! 318 Poly parts are not a big issue. Some parts interchange with the LA 318.Speed parts and aftermarket support is almost non existent. No 4bbl intake, etc. The majority off us Barge Captains do thiss out of love for the cars. Anybody can pick up a catalogue and order up a brand new 67 Mustang (some assembly required). Where's the challenge in that? It is the thrill of the hunt, not the kill. LOL!!

383's don't have parts availability issues- it's just special pistons used to build a stroker that are hard to find (everybody uses the bigger bore 400 block for that). There are lots of regular and speed parts available for the old 383.

Chris
I just went on ebay and typed in "poly 318" and came up with three pages of stuff. Granted most of it is all trim and body parts from a car that has a poly 318, but there is a dual quad intake with BOTH correct carbs on it for $550...that's a heck of a deal if you ask me. There are tons of other engine parts (pistons, cams/lifters, pushrods, rebuild kits) on there so it's not as hard as you might think. The internet has really made the poly 318 not quite such an oddball any more.
