Thanks to 60sCbodies I scored this rare AM/FM thumbwheel radio. !thumb !thumb She cleaned up well and I fixed the volume button. The plastic gear was stripped. Typical. Luckily I had a spare radio for parts and fixed her up. I also used contact cleaner and cleaned up the inside the best I could. Does it work? I will test it this weekend and see. If it does,a bonus. If not,no biggie. Upgrading the guts is an option..

Gosh, I had been looking for an AM/FM thumbwheel radio. I finally decided last March to send my AM thumbwheeler into Instrument Specialties to have it converted to AM/FM stereo with Jacks for an MP3 player or CD changer.

Well, It wasn't cheap. $495...It's 180 watts per channel,,,can set it up for either 2 speakers or 4. I had a friend build two speaker boxes that are 'moveable'. So I have some nice 6x9 speaker mounted in the box and they sit of the rear seat (and can be moved around if need be). My car's a convertible and I didn't want people ruining my door panels, kick panels or convert well pocket panels to install speakers.
Had to get another antenna too (Maury Park). My original antenna was bad (never heard of THAT before). It took a while to get it all set up and installed. Now, I have stereo in the car and it SOUNDs pretty good. It doesn't sound as good as it could, I'm sure, because my speaker boxes and their location are NOT ideal.
