They needed the flex plate and torque convertor. The crank would not balance properly. It was out enough to cause concern. I am glad they fixed it before I put the motor together. Weight was removed from the front, and weight was needed to the rear.

This is where Bullet is world famous for... Using a $650.00 CK-10 honing stone acheiving an 820 plateau A proper cross-hatch pattern, and a super finished bore. Racing quality that is far above standard factory issue. This will reduce wear, and make power.

The cast pistons should be in this week sometime. The rods were resized, and weighed. 383 piston selection is limited. So,achieving a decent compression ratio is tricky. Without machine work my CR would have been 8.8. To pick up the slack to make power elsewhere, extra work on the heads will be key. That combining the shaved deck will keep the CR close to the original 9.2:1. 9.0:1 will be acceptable. I will be able to run on pump gas no problem. The bowls will be worked on,stainless valves will be back-cut,and I will port match the heads before I slap them on. Breathe baby,breathe.. Here the hardened valve seats were getting installed. I already bought new valve springs, but upon closer inspection,I needed matching retainers to keep the springs from "walking".New keepers coming as well.

A couple things that bites, and good reasons to leave certain thing to the professionals--like Bullet.. First,my bad not knowing any different--I admit... I gave Bullet my new set of ARP connecting rod bolts so they can build the shortblock AFTER they already resized the rods, and balanced everything. I cannot use them. It will throw out the balance--or redo the balance at extra cost. Rob assures that the factory rod bolts are fine since it is not a race motor. Secondly,I bought main bearings months ago from a different supplier. Bullet cannot use them since they are the "small" journal size---I need large journal bearings. Got a set coming. So...I have a new set of ARP rod bolts asnd small journal B/RB mains for sale--CHEAP!

Oh,we ordered thinner head gaskets to match the work done so far and keep the CR where we want it. Felpro 39 thick with stainless rings for a good seal. I may still be able to use the stock pushrods, but I will buy a measure tool just to be safe. If I have to buy shorter pushrods,I will. Or order a set of adjustable rockers in a kit.
