With some help of a call to Firm Feel, I got the stubborn torsion bars out. I can't believe I spent almost the entire day just on this step. Oh well, I also found out that my lower control arm on the driver's side was CRACKED!!!
I also had to use a little ingenuity to get the ball joint and LCA disconnected from the spindle... It took all my weight on the engine stand and a whole lotta UMPH on a long breaker bar to get that nut to come off. Some heat also helped.
GOT GUNK?
I cleaned some gunk off and took the wiring and hoses out in preparation for cleaning and painting the engine bay.

Killed my back last night somehow so I won't be doing any work today, but yesterday I masked and painted the engine bay. Yes, I even masked the M/C, booster and brake lines individually so there's no overspray on any of them. I can't stand overspray- it makes the job look cheap and crappy. I even masked off the framerails and may not paint them at all to give the car a more 'natural' look underhood.
Well, it is only spraypaint but it's the "industrial enamel" and I've had good luck with it so far in other applications...

I should have mentioned this before- because eventually the whole car will be black. The paint color probably won't match but I don't think it'll be bad. I've hopefully done it in such a way that it should look fine with the hood up, by painting the inner fenders completely separate from the body panels.
