Quick question, I was thinking of buying a set of heades for my '63 880 with a 361 and 727, then buying some tubing and making a set of tri-y's. Will these shorty's squeeze in my car??? Is there going to be enough gain to justify the expense and time of fabbing up a set of tri-y's? vs the hedman shorty's?

I think that would be a lot of work for a gain that won't be as big as you'd like, IMHO. This might be a case where you're better off buying Schumacher Tri-Ys, if they'll fit your car.
And if you're not super-skilled at welding 18ga tubing in close quarters, probably best forget about it.
Plus you have to do some mathing and figure out the proper distances on the collection points of the Ys AND fit that in your chassis, plus it has to be removable!
However, to offset my naysaying: Adding an X-pipe system woudl be worth the effort, would add 10 hp or so over the shorty headers, and could be done at any muffler shop. Get an $80 X-pipe kit from Summit and let them do the rest. I have X-pipes on 2 of my cars and will be doing it on #3 sometime this summer.

Reportedly they fit B-engiens with some minor grinding of a few bosses on the engine block. Can't say if they fit aroudn the steerbox, I have only put them on RBs.
