Jason, your 65 has a lot of one-year-only discombobulations. I ran the regular full length Hedmans (made for 383) on my 413 Polara, and they fit great except for barely/almost touching the steering box, but when I put in a 440 with 906 heads the Hedmans were NO GO. They hit everything from the steering box to the torsion bars and didn't clear the transmission deck. I've tried block huggers, priced outrageous OEM HP manifolds until I puked and finally said... screw it, I'm getting the TTIs.

I'm running the 78070's on mine. Drive side is perfect, drops right in with the 440 and mini starter. Clears the steering column and the angle plugs just fine.
Passenger side needs a few tweaks...collector is real tight to the tbar, but actually works ok, as the motor torques over, clearances actually get better. I did have heat and beat the hell out of the #6 tube to clear the plug and iirc I still had to put the plug in before the header could be bolted up.
PICS are great !thumb , gave me the info I really need before I tried to install my set of huggers on my '73 Monaco BB. I have all the goodies necessay to do the install, now I just need the time and the case of Sam Adams to pay my helper !whip Thanx again for the PICS and info !thumb Richard "1973 MOPAR", Reno, NV

Thanks for the info, Dana. I don't want to have to remove the header just to check #6 sparkplug. That's as much or more fuss than what I have to go through presently. What headers are you running now? Those don't look like the Hedman shorties in your pics in the "All stock" thread.

I have the Heddman shorties on my 66 NYker. The good news is they fit like they were built for the car. Tubes are likely a little small for a 493 but I think they will serve my intended purpose. Mini starter is a must. Angle plug E-heads, no problem. The only bad news if you can call it that is when I welded 2.5" pipe into the reducer flange to replace the 2.25" and hooked up the exhaust, I wasn't too fussy about where the flange lined up in relation to the passenger side t-bar. The bolt is reeeeeal close and with my rumpity rump cam it bangs on the bar in reverse. A little bit of grinder and a safety strut to keep the motor from rocking around and generally tearing the stock replacement jello motor mounts apart and it should be golden
