Hey 68moparmike, are those Indy valve covers on Edelbrock heads? I wanted to do the same thing (awesome look!) but I got my hands on a set of Jensen cast aluminum valve covers instead (not installed yet though). What are you doing for exhaust on that engine?

I did. Fits good, but I need to build a skid plate ( 68 fury). It hangs below the crossmember about 1 1/2 inches. They provide a 3/8 pickup tube for it. I had to hammer adjust the windage tray to make the pickup tube fit. Have not run the engine yet so I can't comment on how well it works.

My engine compartment looks like yours at the bottom of your posts. I just put the engine and tranny in. They will NOT go back in as a unit- the cylinder heads hit the firewall before the pan clears the crossmember ( ask me how I know).
Just by looking at it, I'd say it will be a close call wether the pan catches the pickup tube before it slides out. If you have to lift it, it won't be very much. I have good clearance to the steering linkage, but my car is still up on blocks. Worst case scenerio, a small dent would be needed for clearance. If you want a picture, I can post some this afternoon.
Any pics would be great! I need to decide Friday if I am going to use the 187 stock pan and find a new stock pickup, or switch to a new pan/pickup. I like the extra capacity and baffles, but undoing my motor mounts might be another can of worms. It was hell getting them to line up.
The pan hanging down isn't a big deal. My trans pan already hangs down. It is level with the lowest point of the headers. It picked up a couple scratches before I put in the new T-Bars! OUCH!
I never got to mount mine, as I discovered a crack in the deck between two cylinders. They were sleeved. Hopefully, I will be mounting it to an aftermarket block engine mid-2008. Designing the new motor with Performance Trends Engine Analyzer Plus. I almost hate to say it, but the software is the best tool i have ever bought.
oh yeah, just to clarify. The last motor made around 675 hp. I used to run a 1000 HP Holley carb before the injection, that's where that number came from. [ Edited Fri Sep 21 2007, 01:23PM ]
