VERY NICE wagon...i have its brother. If i may add a suggestion....if its an original low mileage wagon, and the timing gears and chain have never been replaced, its well worth the time and money to tear it apart and replace them. My wagon is an 80K original mileage and i blew apart the chain and nylon sprocket doing 70mph down the highway...needless to say the motor didnt like it and its i the process of getting a 400HP Dynoed .040 over 383BBM.
Yours is in much better shape than mine though.
**NOTE** I am looking for some engine bay and Green interior parts for this wagon...please PM ME if you have any for this GREEN wagon
hope you enjoy your wagon as much as im enjoying looking at mine in the garage !thumb

Great wagon and nice job on the carb! I see that you had the butterfly screws off. Did you re-stake them in place when you put them back? The only reason why I ask is because I have seen the damage that they can do if they fall into the engine when it is running.

Carb is back on the car and the new fuel pump is also installed. With this done I moved on to some real work.taking the gas tank out. Had of known I would need to take the rear end out to get the gas tank out I might of went about things in a different order, but it is done now. As is common with mid western cars the tank rusted right where the strap goes. At some time someone has but a patch over the soft spot, I made the hole with my finger. After cleaning out the inside of the tank and cutting out the soft spot I welded in a patch. Now I need to find a new float and pickup screen. Mine are shot! The float appears to be a brass part, any one know where to get these?

That's the float, need the pickup filter too. Looks like a lot of cars use the same float and pick-up filter. Might be common enough to get it from Napa.

Yeah, the sock is common and available. The wagon tank and sender however are not in repop.
I remember my uncle used to run an exhaust hose from his truck to a gas tank to burn off any fumes before welding it up. !nervous [ Edited Sat Jan 30 2010, 11:23PM ]
