My favorite car was my friend's '70 Challenger T/A. The 340 6 pack ran amazingly well, although it was an automatic, it was fun. It had amazing handling and ran 14.1 at 99 (on street tires) in the quarter, a very well rounded car. Of the cars I've owned, my last '69 RoadRunner, it had factory power windows, A/C, disk brakes... I set it up for handling with big T bars, ft and rear sway bars, KYB shocks... I loved that car.
Interesting responses. I've owned a few Mopars since my family's "sainted" 65 Coronet. Although most of them were memorable cars for one reason or another, none of them rose to the level of that 65 Dodge. That's why I call it "sainted"; IF a car could be a saint in heaven, that car would be!
1969 Fury / Polara Police Pursuit: 383 for reliability, 440 for top speed... or I could go with the 55-57 300's
I totally agree. There is a whole show Jay Leno did on these police cars. Why do I agree? Only because I own a 69 Fury III coupe with a Commando 440 complete with HP manifolds and 3.23 rear end. Ok off the line but 60 mph and up it pulls hard.
I prefer the 1st Gen Charger!! I always loved the look and the interior is premium! Four bucket seats and a full console as well as the electroluminescent gauges.
I was crazy about the 2nd gen Charger when it first came out...Loved the styling...but now, I hate all the front overhang they added to make that balanced styling....It's just wasted space! The interior is not much nicer than a run of the mill Coronet of the period
