Hoo boooy this is TOUGH!!! At first I thought yeah,Fury with a 318,then I read the posts about the Valiant and the /6 and I thought yeah I've had plenty of /6's and knew people that tried to kill 'em on purpose and could'nt! So I guess I have to call it a tie!! Both engines were not the fastest in the world but they both would run 4-ever!!!

If the best product means "saving Chrysler's butt" it would have to be one of the minivans (at least in Ma Mopar's opinion)......still see a ton of those out on the roads. But I would also make a case for the new Ram series trucks. There are so many of them out there! Why, there is at least 4 of them belonging to my co-workers in the parking lot alone! Looks like owning one is required..... (and you know all about that Steve....)
My vote for favorite car would be the "valiant", these things must have been built on the same production lines as the Tanks that were built near the end of the war by Chrysler. Too bad so many of them succumed to rust. As far as engines go,i'm partial to the 340,s.The bottom end and heads were built on the same platform as the indestructable 318,s these things would idle like a kitten, yet ,when you made them 4 butterflies stand at attention, you could wipe the smile off that Scrotolet with his solid lifter, 11 to 1,alum.manifold,750 holley carbed,LT1.I really can't name a BAD chrysler engine other than some of the later 4s and 6,s,even some of them were great engines,if you could get the head gaskets to stand up to the task.Glen.

I've got to chime in again on this one.
As much as I dread admitting even thinking silently about a certain "type" of car, I'm going to vomit all over myself when I divulge it outwardly. But...I must, so here goes.
It's...uh...it's...the...uh, you know...it's the, damn(projectile vomiting in-progress, along with much heaving of internal organs), the...NO GOOD DIRTY FREAKING "K" CAR!!!!!
There, I said it and didn't die. But, does that hurt bad...real bad.
It saved our "Mothership" from sure sinking and has allowed us now to be at the top of the heap. The pain, the hide behind a tree feeling that goes with that 4 cylinder box of...left over ideas.
Thank God they built them, thank God they sold a bazillion of them and thank God they are mostly gone from our memory!
Alright that is it, I shall never agian mention the...uh...the...uh, you know...the...FREAKING "K" CAR!!!!! [ Edited Sun Mar 19 2006, 07:35AM ]
No doubt about it, Chrysler owes alot of its current day existance to the K-Car, Lebaron Vert and Mini Van. Each came at just the right time to save their bacon.
Heck, if it weren't for the Lebaron, where would we get our replacement window motors and top pumps?

K CARS - If it weren't for them what would Red Green use for all of his wonderful projects? " Of course I like usin' the Aries, because you just can't trust the Reliant!" (Dalton Humphries)

The part about the trailers.... that's funny.. I have mini-van hubs on my trailer
UNfortunately it has to be the K cars.. they were neat in turbo mode 'cause no one would ever suspect them to be quick... with a few little mods they would run in the 14's and quicker...
I've owned one Lebaron (RIP) and I have had 2 Chrysler Mini-vans... cheap.. easy to fix ( except the heater core on the vans)..
Ok,Ok,upon a little more thinkin,I'd like to switch my vote.Yes the "K" car did save the company, and yes there were definately a lot of them. They definaterly made some of the wrecking yard owners ,millionaires.I once saw a Reliant, singlehandedly, take on a bunch of cars, much bigger, more powefull,a lot less rust, etc,at a demo deby, and that dude got a bigger ovation than all the other guys combined. We would be in the same boat as the "Nash or AMC"camp if not for these cars and mini-vans of this time.Glen
