I hed a set of ported(Hughes Engines) 516's on a 440 in my old 71 300 years ago and they ran VERY well with a mopar 272-.455 cam with HP manifolds and 2.5 exhaust. That being said I picked up a set of 516's recently that already have 1.74 exhaust valves installed and if they pass the machine shop test I may put them on my 75 Newport with a new cam and timing chain as well as a Performer intake and some old headers I have lying around just for fun.
The hedman shorties and an x-pipe will help the performance and give it a unique sound.I love mine(x-pipe) with the Dynomax Hemi (longer case) Super Turbo mufflers.

516 heads, material off both the heads and block decks, and flat top pistons will give you pretty high CR. Hope you have no problems running it on pump gas. What cam did you go with?

IIRC, the stock 516-headed 440's had just over 10:1 cr. Material from heads and block, plus the 30 thou overbore will lift that quite a bit. Really, it depends on the pistons. If they have lower than stock compression height, it may be ok with pump gas, assuming the lowest quality one. Stock or more? Doubtful.

20 thou off head and deck will be a wash if they used a composition head gasket which is about 20 thou thicker than the stock shim gasket. The longer duration cam will reduce cylinder pressure as well. That will be a fine pump gas engine.
