my 98 dakota 5.2 is running poorly at @ 170 000 miles.just did a full tune which included plugs ,cap rotor, wires, pvc, vacuum lines, plenum gasket, manifold gakets, thermostat, water temp sensor, rad hoses.i gave throttle body full cleaning and all sensors are recently replaced.the problem before the tune up was at about 2000rpm the truck was cutting off and wouldnt rev past 2000 rpm.starts no problem and idles fine.after tune up it ran better and it reved up fine.took it to work today and on the way home it did the same thing.seems when its hot it starts acting up.i have a short drive to work in morning and its cool so it doesnt get too hot.the kicker is there is no check engine light and no fault codes.im thinking bad coil causing a miss or maybe a bad fuel pump or clogged pickup/filter etc.any other thoughts or anyone with similar probs with their dodge?thanks

Leanin toward fuel pump, just tryin all cheaper things first. Coil wasnt it , neither was tps ,cps or iac. Had extra of these from past testing.thinking cam sensor and need to pull o2 sensors to check condition. I had a bad plenum gasket for a long time and oil may have fouled o2 sensors.

on the off chance....check fuel line..enshure its clear of any heat source... had this happen on my 91 build..line to close to exhaust and gas would perculate in line when it warmed up giving me a fuel filter type symptom that would have me thinkin fuel filter...ran fine when cold..heat up would bog and limited rpm...worth checkin...other that that would enshure all vacuum lines free of leaks and in right place to start being efi would also check throttle shaft on tbi for play...worn throttle shaft plays havoc with throttle position sensor on these types

checked fuel pressure and its steady so i would guess its not fuel pump related.gonna try distributor pickup and if that doesnt work, gonna have pcm checked for errors.

this may sound strange but check the o2 sensor on the left side, check the connector for oil insde the connector. If has oil check the powersteering pressuer switch it is more than likely leaking. It will push p/s fluid thru the wire harness shorting out the 02 senor . Fix replace p/s switch (easy righe off the pump in the presser line) now cut all 4 wires off the 02 sensor harness sideabout 1inch from connector clean out oil then solder the connector back on , this causes a dam to keep remaining oil out replace the 02 sensor. If you have excessive oil pumped thru harness you may have to replace entire harness. I have only had to replace 1 harness have been able to repair a lot of other ones. This is a repair right from Chrysler,
