well fellas heres what I ended up with. gates 30r9 f.i. hose from the hard line to the pump, a piece of 5/16 hard line with the 1/2x20 fitting on the pump bent around about 120 degrees and flared, 30r9 hose on that run up the front of the motor behind the alternator etc, steel inline filter, little more 30r9 hose to a collection of brass fittings from lowes, 3/8 brass barbs onto goodyear push-lock hose, pushed onto 45degree AN fittings on the carbs with the AN carb bowl fittings. relocated the coil as seen. new stock carter 5.5-6.5 pump. I still need to adjust my mixtures and floats on the carb, but it is much better, and will certainly stay much cooler. thanks again for all the input.

Good, but not being picky, A/N fittings are better, a 90* A/N fitting won't impede fuel flow like your brass one will, from a "performance" point of view.
yea I hear ya, but I was in lowes, got it all at once, for less than 20 bucks, and I was done. I had had about enough of waiting for things in the mail and it not turning out the way I liked. now its done. that and the only 90 degree AN fittings I have are -6 and I wanted to use a 5/16 line and filter from the pump to the split, not 3/8.

Looks really good, an efficient and neat job!
You might want to consider double springs for the throttle return, if the single spring breaks, you've got a lot of engine to chase if it gets away on you.
