im having an issue im breaking the yoke off my 742 pot where it connects to the drive shaft I have spicer u joints it is the yoke being 10 spline where I hear a 489 is stronger what is the best solution stock axles and spool 410 gears

Wow, you must be putting some serious power through there to shear the yoke shaft.
You might want to look at the angle of the various drive train components. A perfectly straight path will transmit the most power before failure, but this max power gets quickly reduced when angles are introduced into the joints. If for example your rear spring let your axle assembly "wind" up on launch, the angle between the pumpkin and the drive shaft will get extreme and things will start to pop. Usually its the u-joint that fails, but shearing a shaft could be an indicator that you've exceeded the power that rear end was built to handle.

not the shaft the yoke that connects the u joint angles look on was 475 at rear wheels before motor upgrade new 620 cam and max wedge port of aluminum heads 1050 dom carb
