I purchased the Heddman B and E body headers to put on my 68 Sport Suburban (Fury wagon). The car has a 383, here is what I had to do. This assumes the stock exhaust has been removed.
Drivers side:
Raise the car up about three feet (support it properly, do not blame me if it falls on you), remove the stater, the tranny linkage needs to removed from its pivot to get clearence but can otherwise remain attached. Remove the spark plugs. Raise the drivers side of the engine. The header and tranny cooling lines will want to occupy the same spot. I bent the lines out of the way. The drivers side fits very well. You can leave the stock exhaust manifold studs in if you want to.
Passenger side:
Ugh. With the car still raised lower the driver side of the engine and raise the passenger side of the engine as far as you can. Make sure the spark plugs are out. Remove the center link from the idler arm and push forward. Put the header in between the engine and the torsion bar and push it up as far as you can. Hold the header in this position (rope, helper, ect.) lower the engine about half way. From the top pull the header up and hang it on the exhaust stud closest to the firewall. The is the only stud which can be retained. All the rest must come out. Lower the engine the rest of the way and install the header bolts and tighten. The passenger side is a big PIA. There is VERY little clearence between header and the torsion bar but I have had no problems so far. If you have an RB they will not fit with out modifications.
Don't bother getting them coated, it will be severly damaged from the install on the passenger side. I did not need any clearence dents on either side.

As the question of headers comes up so often, and 67VIP is thinking about them, I'll just say I love my Hedman shorties. Super-easy install. Probably not hte performance increase some other headers might give, but easier to install and lots cheaper too. http://www.cbodydrydock.com/forum_viewtopic.php?6.22001
