When you bolt that back together fill it with diesel oil like rotella t and the detergent in the oil will clean all that sludge out. After a season of running diesel oil pull a valve cover and check out your shiney clean valvetrain. chryco
The reason i prefer diesel oil is it has high detergent levels and also extreme pressure additives the detergents will slowly clean the sludge as opposed to a engine flush that breaks loose large quantities of crap all at once. And the e/p additives will help your cam live a happy life!!. Just my 2 cents. chryco

Ah...good point! Rotella Diesel it'll be then.
Oh...and the Hedman Shorty's arrived just as I was heading off to work. On brief look at one, the pass side looks like it'll fit fine, Drivers side may be touchy with the motor mount....we'll see.
I run Rotella full time in all my older engines. As mentioned, the extra detergents keep things clean, and the extra zinc keeps the cam and flat lifters happy. Many engine builders and cam manufacturers recommend Rotella during break in. It is GOOD stuff, and if you shop around a bit, isn't any more expensive than the other dino oils.
