USE THE METAL GASKETS! REPEAT!!! USE THE METAL GASKETS!!!
I installed one of those on my 360 last summer. Ran into a problem inside the engine. There is a little casting nub in top on the inside, in the middle, on the rise above the cam. It hit the intake and held it up. Had to grind about .040 off the cross over on the intake to get it to sit right. Mine was a 360, but it baffled the heck outa me.
I used the gaskets that came with the Edelbrock intake (Optional kit) Ended up pulling the intake two weeks later and replacing the gaskets with the Felpro metal gaskets. Vacuum leaks, water leaks, Ack It was a mess. Just passing on a bad experience, but you'll know what to look for if it doesn't just plop right in. Good luck
Your trim is boxed. I'll try to get it to the post office this week for you [ Edited Sun Apr 02 2006, 07:14PM ]

I plan on putting on a chrome air filter kit. The stock one has the aluminum pipe that goes to the exhaust manifold. Do I need to block that off, the new filter and assemble doesn't have anything coming out of it.

I took the whole unit off... the tube the control, the flap inside the tube...
Then I put a piece of duct tape inside the tube and fiberglassed over it... then I just sanded it and painted it... looks like it was never punched out from the factory...

I'll be following this closely, as my new purchase is a virtually indentical car it appears. I just checked mileage on my first tank...a combined highway/suburban run, and got about 12 mpg! The thing runs strong and smooth....completely stock one owner survivor with 112k on the clock with a 2.76 gear, and I drive it very easy, so it looks like lot's of room for improvement. I guess first stop is a carb kit, points and plugs. Are you changing the intake for mileage or power? What kind of mileage are you getting now? Hope the swap goes well.....good luck!
