Hey Steve, I just had a though....remembering from my wrenching days,,,you *might* see if a pan off a '92- up B VAN might work for you, with the caveat that you stick to 5.2L Magnum engine parts...I don't recall if the vans had a center sump or a rear sump pan though.

The 318 or 273 pan will fit, you just have to match the gasket to the pan. The magnum motors had a much nicer gasket. The B vans had the truck pan also (rear sump). A common mistake used to be to bolt a 318 pan onto a 360, which leaves a 1" gap at the back (I have even seen someone use silicone to fill the gap, and no, it didn't work). There is a pan from mopar performance, or the new oem pan is still available, I will get the part #'s from work today and post them tonight (I work in a Mopar parts dept)

Actually that's backwards, the 360 pan is the one with the bigger ends. Put a 360 pan on a 318 & you have the gap.
360 has the larger mains hench the bigger pan opening.
I'm like Steve, don't know for sure on the later engines if the 318 & 360 share pans or not. There was a lot of redesign & I would think they'd have standardized it but you know Ma.

The main bearings are bigger on a 360, but the outer part that the pan seals against is smaller on the 360. The 318 and 273 (and 340) take the same end seals front and back, the 360 takes a smaller one at the back. The old pans do fit the newer motors, but like I said, the newer ones have a much nicer (and one piece) gasket, but it is the pan that is different, not the blocks, so match the gasket to the pan. To get your speedo to work, you may have to use a Dakota speed sensor, (90-92, I think) it still uses a cable, the truck didn't, and you need the sensor for the computer and the trans (to get it to go into overdrive) Look to see if your senser is a 2 wire or 3 wire, and I will see if I can find the part number or application for one that will work for you. What have thought about your fuel pump? Are you going mount the truck one in the tank, or go with an inline one?

Hey Steve. Sounds like you've done this before. Cool. Neither Butch nor I have done any swaps using a magnum. I know the small blocks, done all kinds of stuff. But this is the first for a Magnum swap for me. Stick around, I may need ya'
I have to find a new cam and lifters. Lifters are a cake walk, but finding a stock grind 92 cam is, wwll let's say I'd have better luck having my car painted over the internet.
Fuel Pump. Because of the skinny tanks, the truck unit won't go in. Although it would ne cool if I could put a 30 gallon tank in it. External is the order of the day. Need to get a 90 pounder. The injectors on the Maggie are calling for 60 pounds. Need to build a sending unit too for tree 8's. with a 5/16 return in it. Next pn the list
Speed Sensor. I am pretty sure the 92 D150 used the same speed sensor. I thought about that too. I gotta' see what I got. I remember my 92 Dak had one of those on it, with a cable speedo. It was already thought of. Thanks for the tip though
The who deal ought to be easy to do over all. Worst is to design a trans mount and drive shaft once I get the pan figured out.
