Hey Dana
As I recall, the bushing size and angles are different. I am pretty sure dimensional they are the same.
I am pretty sure the upper on your Fury is the same all the way to 78. But I would have to look that up to be sure. If you need that, lemme' know and I will dig out the Hollander.

Interesting question Dana! I have been thinking about things like this for GOOD reason. Let's face it, my "golden one of a kind" as they were called torsion bars were NOT made correctly by Sway-A-Way with the proper offsets in the hex ends. In a way, I'm glad no one else on the dock got ahold of these bars from PST. Due to this "mis-build" a proper ride height CANNOT be established!
My point of all this? I have seen the kits for A, B, and E body cars to convert your front suspensions to a COIL OVER spring/arms system, therefor transferring your torsion bar set up. Neat stuff.....but not cheap! I have been considering ditching the T-bars in favor of a coil over set up for some time. Nothing comercially available now, so home made would be all I can do. How bout' that? Tony P.

I agree Tony
However, you need to remember the C has a sub-frame where the abe's don't. I don't know if the frames can handle a conversion. When out of the car, they are fairly rigid, but looking closely, poorly made.
I guess it's just us poor C Owners haven't gotten any attention. I suspect, Dana may be looking to go with lighter tubular uppers for his car, which is a good move. The tubular uppers also produce better handling. . . Dana! Am I right on that?

I helped a church member put an electronic ignition into his Charger. While wasting time I climbed under his car and took a look. The control arms were PUNY compared to the C. I doubt any thing from them can be used on one of our boats.

Hold on a minute there. I know B's have a "rigid mount" type uni-frame, but think about the Camaro for a sec. It is basicly a C BODY car in smaller size. It has a front sub frame that UNBOLTS from the body shell just like a C! It uses coil springs between the upper and lower control arms. The Camaro uses rubber isolator bushings unlike the early 70's and down C body cars.....but LIKE the mid 70's C body cars. That means nothing for this convo, but just a fact thrown in to compare!
If I'm correct, those a, b, and e body torsion bar elimination kits with there tubular A arms use "coil over" shocks to take the weight. The only two problems I see are increasing the HOLE SIZE AREA where our factory shocks go for the coil shocks and finding a coil over spring/shock that can hold up to a C body weight. Since the T-bars plug into the shaft which holds the lower arm on the sub frame, the LAST question would be, "will the shaft hold the arm sturdy enough for driving without the t-bar support out back?"
Ofcourse, the Camaro uses the coil spring between the arms to lift. Those kits do the same? I'll have to RE-LOOK at the advertisement pics again since I can barely picture them in my little mind! These are my thoughts so far on this! Tony P.

Scott, as you may or may not know, Torsion bars are the ticket for strip racing. For the street, I truly believe that coil springs dominate on the front suspension. Ride quality should be better with coils! The NEW Ram switched to coils and dropped the T-bars for this reason. So did "other" makers.
To answer your question, I would like to switch to coils simply because there are NO T-bar repopers out there for C bodies! I "think" Clair Davis once said (or someone else) that Firm Feel cut a set, but I have never heard much more about that.
My new "golden" set of T-bars were made improper and will NOT maintain a decent ride height forever. "HE" sits too low in front now. Adjuster bolts are 3/4 the way up! Not much adjustment left now. I am gonna live with these bars for now, since I went thru HELL to have them done, but I was dealing with IDIOTS who do NOT know the Chrysler product. I have found myself educating MANY on the C body product out in the "vendor world" over the years! It gets old. Oh well! !stars Tony P.
