A friend of mine asked me if we could find any of this info out. If it was the last one, then he may have to put that car back together. (Better you than me Rick)
I had a '70 Fury Convt. (the one I sold along with the '71HT to that guy up in Chambersburg) The production date, stamped on the core support, data plate, was 7-12. That is July. There was only 2 1/2 weeks left in the 1970 year model run. ('71's started Aug 1st of '70) How many converts were made after mine? Or was this one the last convt off the line? I talked to Goers up at Carlisle several years ago, since this was a lowly C body, he wasn't all that interested. But, he told me that there were probably over a half dozen or so made after mine. I doubt it.

1,952 Fury III verts in 70' Hows that?
I cheated! Bill Mounteer has it on his website LOL.
Keep in mind that's a Scheduled build date, who knows if they actually got built even on that day. That is awfully late in the run for sure.
What was the driveline & options on the car? That would help determine better if it was worth it. I'd sure like to have a 70 vert myself.
We had the same question about the 70 GTX we just went thru, original owner car w/95K & he has al the documents still from day one. SBD was 7-10. Pretty late & we wonder if it was one of the last ones out of the St.Louis plant.
Theres guys on Moparts that are actually tracking this stuff & I might put a post to see what they think. Galen would tell ya for a price I guess. What plant it was built at might have a bearing too.

I don't have the details on that Butch
But I will ask. I sent this link to Rick to keep tabs on it. He also asked how may 66 Plyme's were built with 383 3 Speed. I can't seem to find the thread at the moment. Ahh here it is. http://www.cbodydrydock.com/forum_viewtopic.php?5.2086
Anyway, I sure would like to have that ol buzzard on this site. He'd liven up the party. He's from West Vorginny, Tawks funni, lots of laughs, knows his shtuff and drives a hearse. (Doubles up as a shine tanker, but he's never admit that) Rick would be a huge asset . Of coarse I'm sayin all this to git him to join. . . .LOL HEAR ME ALUMIDUD? <span class='smallblacktext'>[ Edited Thu Dec 29 2005, 09:05PM ]</span>

Well, i think I have a plan.....maybe! I'm just like everybody else, cars done & I'm thinking about what I really want next. I'm really stuck on a 70' with the hiddens.
Yer killin' me Mark! THAT 70' you just got was EXACTLY what i had in mind. Just didn't look soon enough & really too far for me. Man, I've got almost enought here to build a nice 440 right now but why stop with a small motor? Right? I wouldn't care if I found a nice SB car, got plenty of drivetrain stuff here.

Galen does not know, nor does he have a way of finding out.
My '70 Newport is registered with Galen in his Chrysler Registry. I sent in the info to see what he had on others. Why? Because the man who originally purchased the car, on Aug. 31, 1971, was told it was the last Chrysler ragtop made. It has a date code of 630.
I know there is a great possibility that there might be Plymouth and Dodge convertables made after mine, but for curiosity alone I want to know if there was another Chrysler made.
Before I paid to join the registry, I talked with Galen at Spring Fling in 2004. He told me he does not have that info, and has no way of finding it. He said the only way was to call Chrysler in Auburn Hills and see if they might have the records from the 1970 year. Otherwise, the only way is to check every VIN on every car I see.
His advise? Until I find one that was made after mine, or have someone tell me otherwise, there's nothing wrong with making the claim.
Even so, such info is meaningless unless these cars finally get the financial respect I think they should. Good luck!
