I was hoping to upgrade to a six blade, high flow/high performance GMB water pump for my 1970 300 (non a/c). The factory service manual specifically mentions "when replacing the water pump do not install a standard (eight blade) water pump on an air conditioned car (six blade pump) or vice versa". Any problem upgrading to this high flow water pump on a std. 440? I'm looking for increased coolant flow. Scott

I _think_ it goes: 6 blade on a/c cars because the a/c wp pulley is considerably smaller diameter than the non-ac pulley, so even with less blades it's still hummin along. That said, I haven't been able to find an 8 blade, parts houses don't seem to stock with 2 pn's even though they ask if you have a/c. The difference has been lost to history. With aftermarket there are some options.
