I just installed my Midland-Ross booster last weekend from Cardone. In some of the pictures,it shows this spacer installed and some not. Mine was an assembly and it did not have it,so today i cleaned them up and detailed them and made a new foam gasket and will install the assembly this weekend. Still don't know what it's used for but it's some kind of system they put there for a reason.

Are you both using the 73 booster with 66 column shift transmission linkage? Does it clear?
My 66 has a console shift. I think Uncle Joe's 65 does too. In his pics I can't see any kind of shift linkage coming off the end of the steering column.
I am using the large diameter (10") single diaphragm 1973 booster, which is known to interfere with the 1966 column shift linkage. UJ is using the small diameter (7.5" I think) dual diaphragm 1973 booster. I don't know why both were offered at that time.
While I don't have to worry about shift linkage problems, I wish I'd used a different booster because it's so close to my engine that I can't install aftermarket cast aluminum valvecovers. They are too tall and will hit the booster. I'm stuck with the stock stamped steel valvecovers because they have a sloped area at the back that just clears the booster for installation and removal.
Mine also has the console shift.
As regards the booster. I just measured mine up. Case diameter is about 10", the crimped flange somewhat larger. Depth is just over 7". So what it is, I have no idea....it just about clears the MP valve cover, but really, I need to grind the fin to give more space.
One thought about the spacer between firewall and booster. B-bodies that use the 8" dual diaphragm have a sheet metal spacer that moves the booster up and away from the firewall a few inches. In this spacer is a lever that has a fulcrum at the bottom, the rod from the pedal above this, then even higher, the rod to the booster. I would think that it may be possible that ours mounting directly to the firewall accounts for the need of a spacer.
You will have to call him for the C Body stuff. I sent him all the original body gaskets from my '65 300 that he used as templates. Most should be the same for '66.
