I have a 1965 plymouth fury 111 wagon which I have a goal at running 12 sec on the quarter mile. This is the 1st Mopar I have ever had...The wagon still retains the original 383 and auto. The engine was rebuilt along with the 727 auto which has a 2500 stall which was done in Las Vegas back in 2010 before leaving the country. It now resides in Brisbane, Queensland. Now my researching begins in achieving the goal.... Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome to the dock! I also have a 65 Fury III SW 383 .... w/ 4 spd. 12 s 1/4 either means lots of horsepower, less weight, good weight transfer/ hooks good, or a combination thereof. Others with more track experience than me will undoubtedly weigh in. Good luck on your journey, and smart looking wagon!
The first thing we have to know is the weight of the vehicle with you in it. That's where we would set a minimum hp goal. To get it into the 12's the Cyl. head will be the biggest factor here. Welcome to the dock also. Tell us more about your wagon. Sure looks nice. Glen
With the 383 it will require low gears(4.10),better heads and cam, higher stall converter, and drag radials IMO. Or you could hit it with a nitrous shot(while still needing lower gears, better heads, and a cam. To move a barge you need lots of torque and the 383 doesn't lend itself to that without a lot of work. Not saying it can't be done but I doubt it would be much fun to drive on a regular basis.

Nice ride dude
Well scratch one thing off the list - we are not allowed anything to do with nitrous on a road legal car here anymore (qld, oz) - no partial installs even
To retain road manners, cubes is really the answer - Stroker motor
Depending upon how solid your rebuilt motor is, a turbo or blower setup may be the cheapest option (4 wheel discs required for rego)
Most people will agree that getting a car from point "A" to point "B" is easier with cubes (440 vs. 383 = 57cubic inches) a 383 can be made to run those numbers, but it will take more money and some careful planning. While we can scour our Kijiji ads and come up with a 440 shortblock in minutes, it's not so easy in Australia. Shipping parts like a stroker kit for the 383 ( crank, rods pistons etc.) are going to be pricy. You could use most of what you already have. All machining of the block/crank/rods/pistons,etc. have to be blueprinted to the max. You will need at least a forged 10.5 to 1 piston,ARP rod bolts (stock rods will be fine). Get a premium ring to hold compression and leakdown. I'm sure others will chime in with a good head/intake/carb combo but to make it even more streetable would be to run a good roller cam and valvetrain as this makes it possible to run a big cam without giving up too much street manners.

Yep, currently 440 re-builders go for about $1k on ebay here
Getting a set of rods resized and new arps is roughly $35 ea + bolts ~$430au vs new ones from the US 450-500us - 6-660au +80ish to freight - if going stock legnth 383, Rock auto have em for $12 us ea for rebuilt ones (+80 freight)
Stroker crank 600 us - 800 au + $200 sea freight (6-8 weeks) I haven't been able to find a 440 crank here under $500 and then $300 to get the mains ground down - passed on a $200 440 one 6 months ago cause it was 5-600 miles away and i was moving house, regretting it now
Forged pistons - 625 us for some diamonds 800+ au plus the $80 ish freight
Stealth or Sidewinder heads $1k+ - $1300au +2-250 sea freight (plus 15% taxes/duties if you dont ship them individually)
and the list goes on and on, we pay pretty heavily to live in the "Lucky Country", Higher wages, but higher costs of living too - booze is a good example, it gets taxed heavily by alcohol content - when i was over there in 2010 (our dollar was evenly priced then) you could get a 1.5L bottle of smirnoff/jim beam/bicardi for $17-20, over here a 700ml bottle is $35-40, a 700ml bottle of bicardi 151 proof was $25 - $80 here, carton of beer $15 ish (at a petrol station - awesome way to encourage drink driving lol) $40-50 here. If there is not 2 low to medium incomes coming into a household - pretty much forget owning a house in a suburb near a city - anyhow enough of my rant
So the forced induction looks pretty cheap if the motor is in good condition, $1-2k ish for a turbo setup depending upon fab skills and bodginess
