Just wondering if any one can give me a bit of information on my car. I am based in the UK and just bought a 1968 Dodge Polara 4 door (door post car) with a 383 v8 2 barrell carb on it. Did these cars come with posi traction as standard or was it even an option? Could anyone how I can tell if it has it by using the VIN number which is DL41G8F232161 or will there be any other markings on it telling me it has it? I am actually still waiting for the car to be delivered as it is just at the docks in the UK now.

Yup. No posi's ever made by Mopar. 4dr 383 2bbl.....doubt very much there's a sure grip axle underneath there, but hell I've seen way stranger stuff than that.
If it were checked as an option by the original buyer then it is possible.Highly unlikely. It should be easy enough to tell once you get the vehicle. It can easily be added if need be.
Thankyou everyone for your replies, I just thought it could have it as my 67 Chrysler new Yorker had it, maybe it was a tow package or something on those or because it is a higher spec model? Any ideas how I check if it has it once I get the car and by tags on the car? Also how much does it cost to put it on the car and what is the process of doing it and any ideas where to buy from? I know you guys will have a lot more knowledge than me, being in the UK and all.

If I were looking to add site grip capability to my car I'd either try to located "junker" with a sure grip unit and swap it out....OR I think a sure grip gears can be had on eBay or places like that. That way u get to keep ur original axle. COST: do it yourself would obviously be the least expensive option. If you have a FSM (factory service manual) for your car go grab a buddy and you could do it yourself with their help.
