I have a 1966 Dodge Monaco 500 factory 4speed car that I may be interested in selling.I was told by Murray B Park that it is a very rare 4speed car.I was wondering if anybody would know what something like this is worth and I would appreciate any feedback. The car is a driver and it is definitely not a show car but it's not junk either.I just joined the forum to find out more info about the car. Thanks in advance The car has the 383 in it
I also own a 66 Monaco - Canadian version - with 440 and a four speed.
Murray is correct, your car is very rare. It is estimated that total Monaco 4 speed production for 1966 was perhaps less than 100 cars, with the majority being 383 cars. The number drops to less than 10 when equipped with a 440.
Murray has what he believes is the only remaining 440 4 speed 66 Monaco in his collection, and estimates my Canadian 440 4 speed car is a 1 of 1. His is a special order car with a plaque on the dash. Mine is also a special order car with an interesting history.
Value - is subjective... rarity does not always equate to value unfortunately, and don't be looking to get rich off our super rare car (rarer than many Hemi cars!!). Options and goodies will have a small bearing on value (things like power windows, seats, etc). I see your car does have the rare tach, but doesn't have the coveted power brake setup. As the owner of a nearly identical car, I can safely estimate your car is probably worth under $5,000 in it's present condition, and if restored might fetch $20,000 on a good day. As you can imagine, it would cost more than that to restore it.
Our role is more to be a custodian of a piece of automotive history...
I know a fair amount about these cars, so feel free to message me and we can talk!
Yeah I had a post on moparts.com and I think you posted on that post as well.Murray Park thinks that my car was 1 of 10 and I know rare don't always mean much but you definitely put me in the right direction because I was thinking around 5 to 7000 in current condition also . Thanks a lot for yor help
