I would imagine this is a pretty rare option. I never saw one in the cars back in the 1970s and I haven't seen any in restored cars at the shows in later years.
For what it's worth, I remember the option being shown in ads of the time for E bodies (Challenger.Barracuda) 1971-72.
Your clock should be able to be repaired quite easily - Even though it was NOS it most likely just needed a good cleaning and the point set dressed with emery cloth.

Turns out I have the same problem, bought a NOS clock which ran for a couple of weeks. In hindsight I should have pulled it apart and changed out the lubrication. The 40 plus year old grease is probably damaging all our old clocks.
