We took the car out Sunday on a 100 mile round trip (to buy freshly roasted New Mexico green chilies- yum!). Cruising at 80 mph on the highway to crawling along at 10 mph in traffic, the temp gauge stayed rock steady at 190F.
I got about 14 mpg and it felt like the car was running a bit too rich at this high altitude, guess I need to install smaller jets (or drop down from the 750 Performer to the more modern 650 Thunder series AVS).

I also did a bit of work on my Charger: installed a Mopar Cold Air Intake Thursday night (took all of 40 min)--when driven sanely my fuel mileage went up 1.5mpg, but it is hard to keep my foot out of it because of the glorious noise it makes under full throttle! And it's almost as fast as the newport now.
you got an extra 1.5mpg on the 3.6 with a CAI? Maybe I should do that to my charger....
Works best in conjunction with a true dual exhaust--the stock one is one of the worst designs I've ever seen: twin down pipes merged into a Y, single straight pipe to a stock muffler, straight pipe out the back that goes into a T then finally two resonators. I put on a Dynomax 39525 Cat back system and that really helped the performance and mileage

One thing that nobody has mentioned is the fact that stock lines go into the transmission via a 1/8" NPT adaptor. If anything, that is a major restriction, and therefore a possible cause of overheating.
Agreed, big restriction. I haven't tried it, but I'd bet most anything you could drill that fitting out a bit and get a lot more area and flow. Even 1/16" would be a respectable percentage increase, and the pressure involved here is not high enough to require the whole flare surface to get a seal. The bigger concern will be removing too much material at the threaded end and having a weak fitting that might snap off (either at installation or from vibration).
Of all the NPT and AN fittings I have around here I don't have an 1/8NPT-5MJ to see for sure.
FWIW, the TF uses 5/16" tube for the cooler lines, the A5xx OD transmissions use 3/8".

well I just bought the one off engineering cooling products site since they had that good article. Chicago design and warehouse and theirs is supposed to have the correct OEM fittings. $219, so a little more, but worth it for the right fittings and supporting a local place (of course they are still make in china)

Which model did you buy? Let us know how it goes. I will be in the market for a 22" soon.

well I can tell you one thing...it's not direct fit. But it does have the right fittings for the trans lines! Almost done with it, but I had to add some C channel to the side to mount an OEM shroud. I thought I asked the guy if it had OEM mounts and he said yes but it doesn't. It's got a lot of flat alum on either side and a couple holes drilled in it. I had to trim it to not hit the battery tray well. I've had to slot and hog out the mounting holes to the body as well, they are no good. Hopefully the thing doesn't leak since I can't send it back now...$500 rad doesn't sound so bad right now...
