I'm going to just call my books in error and accept that the car is a formal top. The important thing is that I like the 29 cars. The car has white front bucket seats and a buddy seat. I'm not sure of the original color. It may have been gold, not plum crazy. The original purpose of the thread was to try to figure out how to fix the c-pillars on my car. The problem is not just the holes but cancer in the metal around the holes. The layers of metal, especially toward the window, are bursting apart with rust. In addition, the water leaks put 8-12in long holes in my trunk floor, although the frame does not seem damaged. I thank big mopar Jeff and Marko for the word on the 4 door hardtop c-pillar. A junk yard is a lot more likely to let me cut up a 4-door. Another option might be to buy a whole 4-door cheap and part it. The key is getting the right body shop to fix it. I need no leaks. All the outlines need to be right because I want to put the black vinyl top back on. Anybody know a good body shop in Virginia?

hi ben, i'd look for a body shop that has a good fabricator who can remove the rusted areas and create new or patch in the replacement. cutting out the whole c pillar and fitting a total replacement might cause other issues. best thing to do is find the shop and then see how they recommend you proceed. you can get repro trunk floors on ebay that a good shop can fit. ive had to do that a couple of times - because ive never had a 69-73 c body with a good trunk floor...... here's a current ebay listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRUNK-PAN-CHRYSLER-300-NEWPORT-1965-71-FURY-1965-74-NEW-/200834864557?fits=Model:Fury&hash=item2ec2b0d5ad&item=200834864557&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr i was very lucky that i found a skilled fabricator to work on my 69 monaco 500 convert. the body tag on the rad support will give the codes and tell you what color your car was originally. even if it wasn't plum crazy originally, if that's the colour you want then go for it. my convert was f6 red and i plan to repaint in a recent chrysler color, inferno red metallic. keep posting as work progresses ! mark

BTW, I drove from Richmond Virginia to Huntington WV, 6 hours one way, to see this car with supposedly "rust free" trunk floor. I liked the young man who sold me the car, but I was really disappointed in him.

Hi Mark, I had a 69 Monaco 4-door hard top that I thought was a great looking car. Are pictures of your convertible posted on the website? Also, what did it cost you to have the trunk floor replaced? thanks, Ben.

hi ben, i can't really say what it cost to do the trunk floor. i spent about 6000 on the body (not inc paint yet) and then i spent another 4000 customising the front by blending in a 72/73 monaco nose. that was 200 hours at 50 cash an hour. i have no regrets and think it was worth it but i know some people think i am crazy for changing the nose ! aside from the trunk floor my car was pretty rust free but it had poorly repaired accident damage to the rear fenders so both rear fenders were replaced.
you know, i don't even know if there is a spot on this site for posting car pics.... ?

Off topic, not that it makes any difference but the seats are not original. White buckets were not available in a 70 fury. I note from the one pic that they are high back so probably from a 71.

Billy: thanks for the word on the seats. The engine and paint are not original either. The seats are actually leather covered. They are one of the reasons I bought the car. Marko: not at all what I expected. $18K in body and paint. You are serious about this project. Wow! I did have a 1973 Monaco 2-door HT. It was the factory dark gold color with tan interior, 400 v8. Nice car

yep 10k so far. i'm hoping to keep it under 20, but this will be a car that i would never get rid of. the paint will be the next big expense, then a new white top, mechanically things are already good, got new seat covers from legendary and the rest of the interior is good. all the gauges, pw & top work. nice looking coupe ! i never get tired of looking at that nose. how long ago did you get rid of it ? post a pic of the leather seats in the purple fury - i wonder if they are from a cordoba or an imperial.......
