re-coring would be the way to go, I had mine done 2 years ago and it still works ok. I noticed on my 1970 fury lll that it runs a little hot but it never over heats. I have taken it for a 300 mile trip this summer with no over heating problem.
early LA Motors were known for leaking head gaskets. That can cause it to run hot too. The blocks also get cloged with sludge.
A recore as said, is definitely the way to go. They take the top and bottom tank off the old one and replace the middle section where the cooling is done. In many cases, it's better than getting a used Rad. Gotta remember, anything you get is usually 30+ years old. You could be duplicating your problem.

My LA was rebuilt last year runs great now, I was amazed how well it ran with 2 cracked heads . I think there was only one cylinder with more then 90 pounds compression.

I've recored every car I have owned. The other good aspect of it is you can add a row or two, and get additional cooling. I had my two-row radiator made into a three-row at no cost to space. Some even go to a four-row, but that is not necessary if your motor is stock.
Don't let Snotty kid ya guys. . . He put a radiator from a Gremlin in his Chrysler. He's so cheap he makes his wife get out and push the car to get it rolling before he steps on the gas. &|
Ummm dems fightin werds you jabbin dem Gremlins, take a gander at my sig. actually if he used one from a V8 the Blackstone 3 core he did good as thats what was in V8 Gremlins.Thanx for the info guys i'm gonna see bout getting mine recored i hope it won't be too much of an arm and a leg. [ Edited Fri Nov 11 2005, 03:00AM ]
