Update:
I bought and installed a NOS temperature gauge from E-bay and now that works great! Now I just have to get the fuel sending unit replaced and I should be all set. For good measure, I added a ground wire to the ground bolt on the circuit board and hooked it to the bolt for the fuse box under the driver's side dash. !clown !banana !crazy

UPDATE: I replaced the sending unit in the fuel tank (had to take it to the shop to get that done). ALL GAGES WORK PERFECTLY FINE NOW!!!!!!!!!! Yeah! What a great validation of all this work. The old sending unit was clogged up and rusty. This would also explain why the fuel filter gets clogged up quickly too ... my fuel tank is rusting from the inside. Luckily it is not leaking yet so I had it cleaned, but this is only a temporary fix. I need to get a replacement fuel tank for the 66 Fury but can't find it anywhere! &|
Great thread !thumb I've been lurking and really appreciating all the info. It will be cut and paste into a Word doc and saved for posterity! BTW had the tank on the Polara cleaned and relined 5 years ago and no issues since. An option for you if you can't find a tank.

Yes, I may have to do that. I was quoted $350 to get may tank treated! Ouch! That's more than most modern tanks cost. Having a nice old car sure hurts the wallet!
