Oh yea, here in central NJ we got slime comin outa our ears... my college just had to rework all the water system do to lead...
I cant speak for Moparkid, i know i'd like to rush up there sunday, but unfortunatly I work the weekends and would have had to request way back cause my boss is a real explitive deleted... anyway i guess you'll get another day to mess with Fury rust. And maybe i can try to get off one of the up coming weekends, if that would be okay with you.
By the way, since im 19, How was it to work for Dodge "back in the day"... I only know what I've read, and Im the only car person in my family, so im interested.
Things were simpler in the 70's and 80's. Early Hippee days were kind of exciting. I put a short stint in Viet Nam and was brought home on a medical. I finsihed the balance of my 3 1/2 years in NCE, Now known as NJIT, in Newark. I finished my degree in Electrical Engineering. But engineers were a dime a dozen then. I put myself through school for the last 9 months building 340's for Island Dragway. The owners of the dealer I worked for raced Demons there. He never fell below 2nd and it was a cash cow for him. John, the dealers kid, told his dad about me and poof! I was a mechanic working in a dodge dealer. I started on the cars and was moved to trucks. Stayed there until 1980 when my two heros Arther and Ritus took me off the floor. Couldn't hack a desk so I left. The cars were as you see them. . . . A real marval in mistakes. Body leaks, wiring nightmares, lousey front ends. The trucks were better, but they had their own unique problems. But on the good side, they were pretty easy to problem solve, and usually were very forgiving. Gee what else can I say?
I have since started my own Server business which is doing well. I have been collecting late 50's and early 60's cars. This Fury is the first C body I have owned in about 20 years. Ahhhh It's like riding a bicycle. It comes right back. My first question that comes to mind is WHY DID I BUY THIS THING?!" My dad drove Dodges and Chryslers.

Thats a great story man.
Really.
Or maybe im just partial to cool car/war/life stories... Helps when your a history major too...
My pops was a GM guy 56 chevy (new), 73 buack (new), 75 and 77 caddies (both new) and a 77 grand prix (new) with some misc used cars in there... and when he met my mom they moved over to the darkside of ford... they've gone through a bunch but the only ford car i liked was the one i remember from little ,an 86 country squire blue monster with the fake woodgrain... ahhh the 80's... In the words of Archie and Edith, "Those were the days".
I bought as my first car a 74 New Yorker Brougham, and i got the itch after i lost her, so now i got the 72.
Over all, the Ford and GM cars were more elegant across the board. But the Chrysler Product out did them in durability with the drive trains. However, Daimler is gaining ground on both of them. Gm is dying mannnnn.
Liked the mini auto biography huh? LOL Now I'm an old PPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTT

well all i know is elwood didnt drive a monaco for its looks...
GM's death is it's own fault... its been making mistakes for a long time and it just cant break from its past which is a blessing and sin in the same repsect.
Ford is a car you seem to buy KNOWING it is going to have this and that recalled, and that at set points in its mileage this and that is going to go. We had an 89 Grand Marquis for a while it leaked coolant to the block and oil to the ground... I ran fine despite this. but got that was an interesting smell after it got warmed up... It looked like the Uncle Buck car. LOL.
And of course my generation doesnt help by scooping up civics and corollers by the gross.
I checked out your website, its neat, one of the almost bought it but it go away cars for me was a 63 imperial, 500 bucks, and im still not over that headlight design.
Im also a big fan of those end years for desoto... some guy in middlesex has a 55 and i think hes the orginal owner...
And who doesnt love Christine, although a 59 dodge looks damn near possesed too...

unless they have cash in hand it is all talk and you know whet they say about bullsh#$ing, it walks. I had the samething 15 years ago with a 68 Barracuda, was offered anywhere between 5 and 7 grand for it when it was not for sale and when I had it for sale they did not or would not come forward with the cash.
