Watch out folks, my ride is ready to roll! Let me tell you a story first though........
. The history behind it was this- Originally a california car it went through a few owners. In early 70's it was converted to a street / strip with red exterior and bright yellow engine bay. It sat for a few years after that when another owner decided to try and restore to original. The military kid had it during the gulf war and only drove it around the base. He moved to colorado with his then expecting wife who forced him to sell. I was upset that my grandfather sold my older brother his 67 tbird and I had a friend with a 64 300. When I saw the ad in the paper for 2000$ I had to go look. When I saw the car in the guys driveway I was stoked! It was metallic turquoise and It came with the hopped up 440, the interior was good with original carpet and panels, the headliner and seats had been redone a few years before. One issue was the paint was starting to lift on the top of the rear qp. I blew the tranny a few months later and rebuilt it. The brakes needed help and I replaced them. I let my cousin's husband drive it when I was drunk and he reversed it into a pole, shattering the tail light and denting the bumper. He gave me money to straighten and re chrome the rear bumper and for the replacement tail light witch I aquired from murray park, pitted and too much money I sucked it up. Thus the parts aquisition began. Junkyarding-ebay-300 site- etc I started to get additional parts for the day I would restore to better condition. In 2004 my 440 took a dump. My screwed up holley dumped too much gas in to the oil and thus the project began. I rebuilt the 440 and sprayed the engine bay the same turquoise color. The clear was totally peeling off the body by now and I could not stand the sub-standard paint job so I took it in to bills kustom autobody for paint in Dec 04. Poor old bill has some health and scheduling problems though, so my car sat primered for a year. I was building a new garage / shop in my back yard and said no rush, but not that long!! Finally the paint was on in march 06 and it was my job to put it back together. Unfortunately they pulled everything out and I had no idea how to put back together. I took the door panels in to be re-uphulstered and with all your help I started to fix all the little things, mix and mach trim parts, all that fun stuff. After alot of hurt fingers I have finally finished my car. I am stoked to cruise it around and put it in some shows.
Just a big THANK YOU to all of you cbody pros for tips and tricks needed in the resto of my car.
The headers came with the car. Originally it had an oval plate on top of one of the exhaust pipes, but has since fallen off and the holes filled. I don't really know what kind, but they are a Yeep to remove for any pan work or starter replacement. It's like a puzzle when you have to work around them.
