Hey, GREAT! If I was the only one living here, I'd do it....Maybe a small vacation for you!!
We haven't had much in the way of snow at all this year, just shoveled once and it was maybe 2 or 3 inches...It is often mild here in Feburary too, but not this week. !crazy

your 65 coronet shouldn't need the bulkhead upgrades ... if you look closely the car has 2 screw terminals on the engine side of the bulkhead connector. They are solid brass through the bulkhead connector and have screw terminal on the back side that feed the ampmeter. all the 62 -65 cars were made this way ..

All that work to make sure your car doesn't burn up and no grommet on the firewall????? !nervous !nervous !stars !nope [ Edited Fri Feb 20 2009, 01:14PM ]

It's there, just shoved in for clarity... Seriously,it was there the last time I looked.Musta popped in from vibration or driving,I guess. It will get fixed before the car comes out of storage. Thanks!! !thumb

Nick needed some guidance for his '67 300. !stars Thanks for pointing that out and yes I was aware of the 62-65 set up.
My thread may not apply to everyone, but the majority have a similar set up as I described.

Hey Leaburn. Is there anything else hooket up at the Ammeter? Can I just connect the two wires together and cut the gauge out of the system that way as well as bypassing the feeds through the firewall junktion? As I know these connectors are HIGH resistance and CANT handle the load. Would this be a super simple way to do the MAD conversion? Thx Jeramie. P.S. Hoping to get some work done on the VIP this Sunday will let you know how it goes.

There is nothing else hooked up directly at the guage itself. As shown in one video, there are splices that feed power to other parts of the electrical system. You can and I had seen it done before.Actually the BoaB's wires were connected together-the guage was dead. With the way I suggested it,the guage will work and still have no load on it. Basically,I reduced the amount of current flowing through it,and at lower resistance. That is what the first wire under he hood that joins the battey stud on the alternator ato the starter relay does. Should the ammeter guage crap out,you will still have power to the whole car. The guage in my New Yorker works, still swings and ticks with the turnsignals,etc..It is not an accurate reading but at least it gives me an idea if the charging system is working or not. I do recommend a voltmeter guage if you prefer to keep tabs on things..Simply hook it to a switched 12 volt source, and ground it to good solid metal. I chose not to run an aftermarket guage --I like to live on the edge!! LOL I just do not like any aftermarket guages in the car.Personal taste--that's all. This is the simplest way I know how to do this. I do have a more advanced way if you can follow.

Thx I had a similar problem in my old Jeep J20 PU the guage would burn out due to high current ( I had big stereo and off road lights) So I just bypassed it as I described above and incrased wire size at the same time. No more issue. Also on the headlight upgrade I am correct in telling 65 Coronet to power them off the starter relay batt side Correct? Dont want to give bad advice thx again you are a great help.
