A guy that lived by my dad's house years ago made an El Camino style custom out of a rotted out Hurst 300, but this car here is just crazy looking, that hood/fender deal scares me ....

Guys,
I saw this car at the Big Daddy Don Garlits Mopar Show in Ocala, FL last November. It was made from a '71 300 2-dorr hardtop over ten years ago. It has a retractable rear window which was created by grafting a station wasgon power-window tailgate into the body behind the front (and now only)seats.
I have been aware of the car for years. It was featured in a Mopar magazine in its first incarnation; it looked like a 300 Hurst back then. In its second rebirth, it was black with the multi-tiered red-blue-yellow-orange Mopar Racing stripes.
You've got to admire the guy's creativity . . .

It's the same car from WI then, I kow the guy moved out of state, the local car was painted like a 300, then black with multi-colored stripes. He must have recently added the gull-wing fender/hood deal....
It isn't the kind of thing I would do, but I do like it and admire the guy for attempting it. It appears to be well done and I would really like to get a chance to look it over and see how certain things were handled. I like the lines a lot!

I like the lines as well but would really like to see how the front end is attached. Without fenders tied to the firewall everything must be hung off the rad support and the front of the frame. I'll bet the front end bounces around pretty good on a bumpy road. The gull hood sure would make changing plugs easier, but I guess the car will never be driven enough to find out. [ Edited Mon May 15 2006, 12:56AM ]
