I'm looking at a shroud for my Fury that supposedly came from a small block car with a 26" radiator. Seller says it's a metal shroud, not the plastic part that I'm familiar with. I've got a plastic one, complete with cracks that I'm repairing, and I thought this might be a good alternative piece, since he says it's in great shape.
Is this guy not measuring the shroud correctly, or did they make metal shrouds for the 26" radiator? GG's book only seems to indicate plastic for the 26" for all engines, 66-70.
The 2 piece metal shrouds are for 22" radiators, and are fairly rare. I have one in my 383 A/C car, and just bought another one for an additional A/C project.
The 22" radiator must have special captive nuts that are held in by the side panels of the rad itself. You will see square slots in the side of the rad where they go. The sides would have to be desoldered from the tanks, the nuts put in and the sides soldered back onto the tank.

Rare is right. I've only seen the one metal 22" rad shroud in all my parts hunting days too. Unfortunately the owner wanted to sell it complete with the rotten rad for the price of the entire car... [ Edited Mon May 01 2006, 12:52PM ]
Shrouds in general were used on cars with A/C, or Trailer Tow packages, or the Max Cooling package for hot climates. So you will find them sometimes on non-A/C cars. Also they were put in along with a 22" rad for field/dealer installed A/C packages, since those cars not originally optioned with A/C would have had a 22" rad yoke opening. (2 different rad yokes in C's for 65-68 I believe). For engine applications I do not know where they drew the line at 22" as opposed to 26" rads, I think all 6 cylinder and poly cars got 22" rads with A/C or not, and B and RB motored cars got the 22" rad for non A/C and the 26" rad with shroud for A/C. However that's just based on observations I have made on 65-66 cars. I do not know what changes were made as to application for 67 and up with the introduction of the 318 LA motor and the 360 etc....

Thanks Jazz
I think my rad is the narrow 22" which kind of surprised me as I figured the 440 would get the HD setup. It never had any heat issues so I guess Ma Mopar knew what she was doing.
