I'm going to weigh in on this because I restore carburetors for a living. I can't advise you upon what exactly to do for your Holley because I refuse to work on them anymore. They were designed by a sadist in a drug-induced stupor and are good only as wheel chocks.

Wow! Finally someone who validates my thoughts exactly. My car came with a Holley and over the years has caused more problems than everything else put together. I've been pondering between AVS and T-Quad and if I understand what you are saying, the AVS is a bolt on but the T-Quad needs an adapter. Since you switched your cars to AVS I think that's the way I'll go as well. The next question is size, 650 to 750??

Bill,
I would use what I consider to be a 750 CFM carb on a 440, but Steve thinks I may be wrong about that figure. In any event, it is a Carter AVS with 1-11/16" throttle bores both front and rear. This is the carb which came on the 440 TNT/Magnum/Super Commando engines. I use them on both of my 440s ('70 & '71) and they work great.
About the only things you will have to change are the fuel line (goes in right rear on an AVS), the PCV and vacuum advance hoses, and you must also increase the length of the Holley choke rod (better yet, switch out for a Carter choke if you can find one). There are no alterations to the linkage or brackets as I recall, but memory may be faulty. Contrary to some notions, you definitely do not have to change the intake manifold.
