Yeah The Daily Record.
Right after the Record did their thing, the Ledger walked in to do theirs. But the shop proprieter stopped them, telling them the Record was already there. We were scheduled to go the day after the article came out. He had enough news papers. He still has Hemmings, Hot Rod and a dozen other magizines pestering him.
I told him if the car magizines come out, you want a years worth of free advertising ads too. He laughted, but you could tell the wheels were turning and dollar signs were in his eyes.
All those magizines want everything for free. This poor guy seems to be burned out with it all. [ Edited Sun Jan 27 2008, 10:19AM ]
I cant help it guys but i think they should only had cleaned miss belvedere up and left her like she is ,resting in a museum like 57heaven f.eks. I was there at the unveiling and she is one of a kind in the world and a great piece of Tulsa history. If they starting to restore her and replaces to much of her like the frame etc, i would say she is not the same car anymore And in finished condition, she will be only a 57 plymouth among all the others. By the way ,here is mine........

Were you interviewed on camera? The DVD has lots of interviews with visitors who traveled far distances to see her (quite a few were from Austrailia/New Zealand).....maybe we saw you!
I agree it should be left in its shape...but cleaned up somewhat so it doesn't disintegrate and so it doesn't look so sad. The reason for needing parts is that the trunklid is just sitting there after the "TV CREW" broke it off. Dwight said if he could procure a trunklid with a decent framework, he could split the outer from the inner and put Miss B's rusty, perforated lid onto the frame and the back on it's hinges. Much better than it is now (and remember...she came out of her "grave" with an attached trunklid....it was after the exhumation that it was damaged, so this could be considered just putting things back "right".
And wouldn't it be great if he was able to do what they couldn't and get her running again? Dwight's rust remover can get that motor clean and unstuck.....after experimenting with just one gallon of the stuff I have total faith....plus a few freshly de-rusted old antique parts in my collection!
Think of it this way: acid rust removers are like a chisel- getting under the rust and knocking chunks of it off as it scrapes and gouges the good metal underneath. Ultra One's remover is more like millions of microscopic fish, nibbling the rust off of the surface bit by bit. When the rust is gone, they stop feeding and the base metal is unharmed....truly amazing

No i didnt get interviewed but some of the forward look guys came up to me and told that i was on international TV when i tried to climb the fence around the vault to have a look and got hooked by the sheriff !stop That was on wednesday June 13th and when Sharon King Davies heared that we was from Norway,we got the get behind the fence and have a look. Here is me in front of miss belvedere from the inside car show....
I really think that the car should be cleaned and put back to the shape it was when removed from the "tomb" where it was left to rot. So that it can serve as a reminder to any other groups that want to do something like that "what not to do" There should also a be a photo gallery showing how that douche bag "Boyd" screwed it up as a how not to also!!!!! Have any of you guys ever met him (Boyd)? I have been told by several that have that said "He is the most pompous, self righteous prick they have ever met"!

The only thing as bad as (or maybe even worse than?) Boyd is his shop manager, Duane. I remember an episode of American Hot Rod where a young guy that had come to work at the shop packed up his tools and left in tears because he had been treated like some worthless dirty shop rag, and was left in tears, and Boyd didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with it.
Then there was Mike, and Charlie too, who left to hook up with Chip Foose, a man who has earned my respect. Chip Foose may not be perfect either, but I can tell he has a caring heart. Boyd is just a nasty know-it-all, like you said.
Anyhoo, enough ranting. It's pretty sad what happened to Miss Belvedere. I think great that they're going to try to fix it up though. Yes, it may be a part of history, but if it just sits in its current state in a museum somewhere, that would be a pretty sad ending. If it really can be restored to like-new condition, that will be a very happy ending indeed, and will make a great story for years and years to come.
