Understood Bill. NP You'll have trust me on this. My instincts are pretty good. I am in a kick butt mode now. . . . Work with me on this.
However, I have to disagree with you. Companies pay a fortune every year to maintain the Good Guy Image. Why? Because it means a gain or a loss of revenue. They want to look better than anyone else so people will buy their services.
Recently they started an advertising campaign. They're trying to get more customers because the Gecco is taking them away with their very smart advertising. Do you think this is a good time for millions of people to see their name in a negitive mode?
Take Verizon as an example. They shut down my whole internet system because of their stupidity and poor infistructure. I went after them. I eventually went out and looked for a verizonsu$ks.??? URL. I found out they owned them ALL! Gee I wonder why. But they missed one. .BZ and I bought it. For 3 years they busted my chops about it, but could do nothing. It was eventually told to me they have to pay allot of money to maintain an image. Even with a regional monopoly. It's because of all this I have free unlimited DSL service in 2 locations. BTW, I sold them the URL for 50 times what I paid for it.
As far as spreading the word around. . You can't tell me there isn't one AIG insurance employee who does not collect Mopar or even not interested. . . I am sure 2 or three poeple will see the ruckus and it will get back to the right people. Law of averages is on my side. Since her name is plastered all over the place now, they can find the culprit and nix this in the butt real quick. That is what I want. So they gave me grief for 12 months too may? It's my turn.
Yes I am a stubborn one. 14 months is unexcuseable. You only see the paper back version of this. The file folder is over 1" thinck and there are over 240 email exchanges on this.
I have a case still open with the State insurance commission. I have an agent assigned to the case who takes the time to explain it to me. With you not being able to see all the information, (You'd fall asleep before you got to the end) you can't see all the quotes, case law, reports and what not that has been exchanged.
This approach has been used by others numerous times with great success. It will work.

for 11 months they kept telling me I had to prove their insured hit my car. It took the that long to call the witness. They interegated him for 45 minutes, but told me the conversation was only a minute or two. So the basic platform was it was up to me to prove I was hit by their truck. I did that over and over. The state insurance commission agreed with me with all the data I supplied. My documentation was overwelming. Maybe that's why. I had too much and they were trying to puch holes in it.
If I were looking at it like you did, I would question it too. I started a thread here 14 months ago about it, and it became a problem the first day. I had all I could do to get an adjuster to come out. There is allot more than I can sit and explain. 60 weeks worth.
Doing some Google searches, I found all sorts of problems with people and claims settlements and AIG. From what I can tell, they are the worst.
Luckily my claim was cut and dry because I grilled my agent into the ground on all the possible scenarios on my Fury. Having a dedicated agent, that I make a point of seeing face to face every couple months, has really paid off also.
In the end my agent was calling up people within the company and getting things ironed out that I wasn't happy about for me.
Now to put on the Admin hat. !police
Let's keep this thread civil. This is a subject that has the potential to spiral out of control quickly. And you guys know me, I will zap it into the nether if it does.

Polaraco is correct about the release form. An Insurance company can't force anybody to sign a release form. I was rearended a few years ago by teenage girl. She pushed my SUV into another car and ended up with three damaged cars plus her new car (she had just picked up the car that day). We did not have to sign a release to get paid and they did not push the issue. I know back and neck problems may not be noticed right away. I offered to sign the release if they paid extra but they said they would take their chances. Most Insurance companys that I dealt with have never pushed the issue with release forms. AIG is just draggggggging their feet. Insurance companys just plain don't like to pay. Hang tough Polaraco, they are digging there own grave.
Corrected my typo error.

Must be different in Canada, every insurance claim I've ever filed concluded with an exchange of a check and a signed release indicating the claim was satisfied and is closed. It does create a potential problem with collision repairs, the car is all repaired and looks perfect, but if 6 months later you discover a bent frame etc. At that point you're pretty well SOL.
