When I have the new exhaust gasket installed I'm going to put in new studs and nuts...
I know they are 3/8 coarse and 3/8 fine... but what is the total length of the stud... the local parts dude has varoius length and I had no idea which length to buy...
We had to pull mine out for bolts with the TTI's. I don't think any are left, but they were about 2 inches. Make sure you have about an inch threaded into the block and enough to catch the exhaust flange and probably twice the thickness of a nut. Should be able to measure the exterior length pretty easy.

That's about the right length. I would measure the thickness of the manifold, add for the gasket to determine the correct length. And yes about an inch into the head is good. Put some never sieze on the threads. It will help seal the threads from leaks and make it easier to get it out again in 100,000 miles.
You really don't have to use coarse by fine thread. They'll probably be harder to find up there. You can use a coarse thread on both ends. .. .
R U Sure they are 3/8? It is possible they are 5/16. If a 1/2 inch socket fits the nut, they are 5/16. If a 9/16 socket fits, they are 3/8. Easy way for you metric people to figure it out. I'm so used to just grabbing the socket and turning the nuts, I never pay much attention. I know my 360 is 5/16

The exhaust studs for a big block are still available from ma mopar, part # 6030409. The replacement ones are longer than the original ones. I like the factory ones best, they seem to seal better for some reason.
