I had an exhaust leak on the front port of the drivers side..
I bought a mr gasket exhaust gasket set... when I put it on ... and bolted everything up... I could see that the gasket hole was bigger than the manifold hole....... leaving me with another exhaust leak... .... and none of the nut came out.... the hole friggin bolt came out and so did all my coolant...
So now I have to take it all apart again...
was there more than one size of port or do I need to use differnt gaskets...
I haven't tried the Mr. G's, but the Felpros do fit good. As for the coolant... Instead of using bolts, you can use studs. Unless you have headers, then bolts are almost mandatory. Otherwise, Edelbrock aluminum heads, don't run the water jackets into the exhaust threads... Real helpful, I know.

I should have been more specific... the factory studs came out... the nuts wouldn't spin so it took the studs with it... still pissed me off though..
I'm having my mechanic put factory replacement gaskets in next week when he changes the oil and greases the old C... My back won't let me lean over the fender anymore....

FWIW....Factory didn't use gaskets on the manifolds on a B/RB. Some SB did with a heat shield on the drivers side ( read much $$$$ now ). However the manifolds need to be flat & you can use Hi-temp rtv to help seal.
If the manifold isn't flat ( checked across the posts with a long straightedge, less than say .010 ) the just use gaskets. Found many a maifold dlightly warped & we have em' sanded or milled to get the surface flat again & not use gaskets.
As far as Studs... What Scott said about ACE Hardware! They carry the studs in different lengths & the nuts so you don't have to order em' from a vendor. 3/8" coarse thread in the head & 3/8" fine for the nuts is standard. Throw the old ones away & get new ones. No more anit-freeze leaks. Just put sealer on the threads going in the head.
