This weekend I installed my M-1 dual plane intake with a 4 hole 1 inch spacer...
NOw it seems to idle higher... I adjusted the idle all the way down and it still was at about 1100rpm..
Thinking it must be a vacuum leak I re-tighten the carb, and the intake...
It got better.. I took it for a drive.. evreything was ok... then when I got back in the driveway and put it in park the rev went up again to about 1100 rpm
I checked that everything was tight and it was...I replaced the old hose to the power brakes..( it was pretty old)... that wasn't the leak..
I did see that the gasket for the top of the AVS was wet...maybe the gasket is hard from sitting and is starting to leak... can this make a vacuum leak?..

Hey Windsor, I'm thinking it most likely could be a gasket problem at the carb, not sealing due to age , not being seated properly or torn.
Try the "spray" method I told you about, you can use brake cleaner if that's easier to obtain, but a spray bottle with water or a small bottle of propane with a needle fitting with a valve to open and close off the flow can be used to determine where the leak is.

MOST PEOPLE DONT SPRAY THE CAP AND WIRES FOR VACUUM LEAKS. USE THE NOZZLE THAT COMES WITH THE STARTING FLUID OR CARB CLEANER AND LIGHTLY MIST AROUND SUSPECT AREAS. CARB CLEANER CAN HAVE A BAD EFFECT ON SOME PLASTICS. JUST WATCH WHAT YOUR SPRAYING. GET RID OF THOSE 1984 ACCEL YELLOW JACKET CUT YOUR OWN IGNITION WIRES AND MABYE YOU WONT HAVE A LEAKING WIRE.ALSO BLOCKING OFF THE HEAT PASSAGE IN THE INTAKE HAS BEEN PROVEN TO GIVE ABOUT 15 HORSEPOWER, REALLY GOOD FOR SUMMER DRIVING.
