I'm looking at the body side mouldings on my "new" convertible, and they seem to be missing the rubber or vinyl part in the middle of the anodized trim. It looks like just residue remaining from it where it was glued in place on the aluminum...and a couple of them are dented up. I can't say as I've ever paid any close attention to what these are supposed to look like. Is the rubber or vinyl insert black on all of them...or body color? Are these pieces real tough to find NOS? Can the insert just be replaced instead of the whole piece of trim? Are they different for each year Fury? Any suggestions where to look? Thanks Guy
Both of my verts had the molding on them when I got them. One had the vinyl insert the other didn't. I thought it looked a lot better with it off, atleast on a lighter color like B3 blue.
Would the vinyl be an NOS part? or would the whole trim piece be required? There is probably some aftermarket vinyl that could be used. Infact, I think one of the pieces I have somewhere looks like it was replaced. The tapered end is smooth instead of textured. This sounds like Bob's territory.
BTW: Both my B3 69's and the bronze 70 had black inserts. [ Edited Mon Mar 06 2006, 11:50AM ]

The vinyl inserts were available in black, tan, citron gold, green and blue. I think most were black although I have seen a few of each color except blue. The fender tag code V5* indicates the car had side trim and the * represents the color code. Mine, with black insert is V5X. Don't know what the other color codes are and couldn't figure out how to dig them out of my parts list book. Maybe stitcherbob has these codes.
Edit Found some, V5T - tan, V5F - green, V5B - blue & V5X - black Couldn't find citron gold although I've seen it on a SF 2dr-ht

Bill's got it right! Mine are Tan inserts. Having bought all new trim for 2 Fury's now I can tell you the vynil isn't separate, comes with the trim itself.
You can get trim also with no inserts, available either way.
The 69 vert had blacj inserts. No fun to find, took months on each car.

My 70 sport fury has the side trim and they were complete and present when I got the car. But after some months of driving they started to come loose, so I pealed them off.
I think they look better with out the vinyl insert. I did toy with the idea of getting some 3/8 reflective black pin stripping and using that instead of the in the vinyl.
