I need to find some nicer belts for my car, but what will interchange? Someone got a book for this? (Steve....Bob) I have a set out of a 4 door in there now, it was easy to remove the shoulder strap, so I know they don't have to be vert specific.
I also now that 70's will work, but what about pre 69 or post 70? Were the same latch styles used on all C's & Imps? What about the front retracters? Not too concerned about correctness, as long as the webbing is black, the latches don't look out of place and they fit around my belly!

Good question, but I don't know the answer.
I just installed a set of belts for a friend's '58 Plymouth. He did not find anyone selling specific belts for this car, so the ones he got were for a Chevy. They still look great.

Hey Scott- Legendary offers non retractable belts in two lengths, 60" and 74" long. The original retractors that mount along the outsides of the front seat look model specific in my service manual, and my interchange books don't offer seatbelt breakdowns. I do have diagrams of how the belts are routed, including 69 conv. shoulder belts.
As far as I know, the latches were all the same in the 68-70 years, possibly longer. [ Edited Sat Mar 04 2006, 09:14PM ]
I thanks Bob, I do want to keep a flip latch. Don't care for the look of the aftermarket push button designs. The set of retractors I took out of the 70 look the same as my 69's.

Scott . . . I have a Ebody buddy that has gone NUTSO over seatbelts, so his "knowledge" has kinda rubbed off on me. Anyhow, there were two suppliers to Chrysler, Safety Supply and Pontenier. The standard belts in 68, 69, 70, 71 were of the flip the whole buckle variety. Not sure if I am explaining it well, but the whole buckle was metal and hinged on the side opposite the latch insert. The DELUXE belts, had a button in the middle, that you depressed to release the latch. They also had a white strip of plastic in the middle of the buckle, sort of seperating top & bottom. I think you have to match up the buckle and latch for each type . . . . .but would think that just about ANY C body would be able to donate what you are looking for. Apparently the "center" position in the front seat, was the same, for all the different car models.
Well, that is my two cents worth (canadian to boot !) . . hope that helps . . .

I agree w/ Drchallenger....get new belts, not 35 yr old ones.
The ones he listed ablove are new replacements for yours. You can get them w/retractors or without.
I got mine from Juliano's Hot Rod for the Fury & used the modern 3-point retractables for the front. Mounted intot the original spots. Used laps for the rear.
