Hey Derick- It was the body/style number for the package that included hood stripes, strobe stripe reflective tape, front anti-sway bar and rallye road wheels on the Sport Fury GT without the larger motors ( base 318 2bbl, opt. 383 2bbl& 383 4bbl). It appears as PS23 , while the Sport Fury GT is PP23. Incidentally, the series numbers for both are FP2.

Thanks for the info and I have anew question or two if you dont mind. My car is PH23 and I have located other S/23's on the net that were PH23 cars. My data plate states A51 as an option, I found two decoding sites that state different things. One sates A51 is the S/23 option code and the other states its the "Sinatra package on Imperials" or 71 Duster twister???I'm really confused

The PH23 body type code stands for 2 door hardtop coupe, 6 passenger seating. Although I haven't found it in print yet, the A51 code sure sounds like a Decor Group designation in the 1970 model year. If you find this in factory literature it will tell you all the optional equipment in the package. BTW, of the 8018 total Sport Fury hardtop coupes built that year, it is claimed that Plymouth built 666 GT's and 689 S-23's. Now, how many are left?

I'm starting to get the feeling that there arent too many left and that information on them is not going to be the easiest to find! When I bought my car I did it cause I love the looks and style, I had no real idea that it was slightly on the rare side. Thanks for the info

It is thought that usually only 1 to 2 % of production survive the crusher for a 35+ year period (unless it's popular like T-birds, Vettes, Model A's, etc.).....My 55 New Yorker convertible is supposedly one of 6 that remain of 946 made, so maybe you can estimate yours

I found a website that has a registery going but I guess that doesnt mean its the definitive regisrty. Does anybody know of a registery that would be nationwide and advertised as such??? The regisrty I'm on has 9 S/23's, 7 1971 GT's, 11 1970 GT's, and 2 1970 6 barrel GT's listed. I know that 1355 total GT/S/23 production in 1970 isnt much but too have only 22 listed??? I know there are more cars out there.

I have a production report for Chrysler products built for the American market for 1970. For the 2-door hardtops (model 23) :
PM - Fury III : 46 (with 6) / 20,001 (V8) PH - Sport Fury : 5,754 PP - Sport Fury GT : 666 PS - Sport Fury S-23 : 689
Wonder if there are any PP23 and PS23 models out there. In any case, the 1970 A51 sales code was for the S-23 package on a Sport Fury,
And I fail to see what is confusing. The A-51 code in 1970 was for the Sport Fury S-23 package, in 1971 for the Duster Twister package, 1979-80 Crown roof package, 1981-82 Frank Sinatra package. When looking up sales codes and packages for any car, restrict yourself to the year of your car. All other years do not apply.
