Has any one messed around using a motor plate to mount a bigblock in their C. Since there is a header issue I wondered if eliminating stock motor mounts and moving the engine back a touch would help or hinder anything. I realize the driveshaft would have to be altered and maybe the trans mount but I was just curious if any one had any thoughts or ideas on this.

I've used solid motormounts in my Newport once, but no engineplate. What header-issues are there? A set of elcheapo Heddman BBodyHeaders fitted 'pretty' good after a little persuasion on the right header.

With a relocation of the engine, certainly weight distribution is going to change. So, the dynamics of how the car reacts at given conditions might change substantially.
I've never done such a change, but I suppose it could be some fun.

I was thinking, how would it benefit or hinder a car in drag race and light street use, like you said, weight distribution would change, possibly the center of gravity, just something i was thinking about.

I'm thinking there's hardly enough room on a slab side to move back to make any real difference? Maybe an inch or so?
