I have made an interesting discovery. I have a 70 Sport Fury Gt, with the 15" roadwheels. I wanted another set for my 71 SportFury. They appear to be very rare, as if they are made of "Unobtainium" You will not find these wheels offered from any Mopar resto vender. You may get lucky on Ebay. I have seen some there. I just bought a set from a guy that was selling a car on Ebay. With Sport Fury roadwheels spinning in my head, I noticed a construction workers truck had a set on it! The funny thing is that it is a Chevy truck. I'm thinking why does this Chevy have Chrysler roadwheels on it ? My co worker said "Those are Chevy wheels dude" I couldn't belive it, I didn't belive it, untill we saw five more sets of them in half an hour. I checked my original set from my 70 GT, sure enough they are identical. So if you want brand new 1970 roadwheels in 15X7 or any other width check out the chevy truck 4x4 applications for 59 series C rally wheels. They are the same.
I believe the Chevy wheels are painted, and the Mopar ones are chrome, right? The bolt pattern will be different, though. I'm pretty sure the wheels were made by Motor Wheel Corp, which is a big OEM supplier.
The bolt pattern is 5x4.5. What is the bolt pattern on a 70 Mopar? I belive you can buy the wheels from stockton wheel in any pattern, chromed fully or just around the outer section like my original roadwheels. The purpose of the post was to let folks know that they are in production They have 16 tiny slots exactly like the originals. In fact one of my originals does not have the chrome on the outer edge (where the tiny slots are). The trick is to find the centers. I have also discovered that the centers are the same for 70's AMC cars. The only difference is the painted parts are red intead of black, and they say "American Motors Company". There is a set for sale on ebay right now. I did not buy the green car. But I did buy the wheels, and the exhaust manifolds. I had to make him an offer he couldn't refuse. They should arrive soon. [ Edited Tue Jan 24 2006, 05:39PM ]

I have been able to find plenty of the wheels at local salvage yards (about $15 to $25 each), the problem is the centers and trim rings. The two peice turbine end type centers get very expensive as used items, and the NOS ones are few and very expensive. The later year wheels had a different smooth end center, and are less expensive. AMC used the same wheel as the Mopars, but their centers were a little different. I have seen some mopars with AMC centers on them, and usually only us c-body guys know the difference. The AMC centers had a red ring type label on the outer center edge that said "American Motor Company", or something like that. And it can be removed to make it look more like the Mopar Center. The centers were all made from chromed pot metal, thus the problems with pitting and tasrnishing.

The difference between AMC centers and most Mopar centers is metal vs. plastic. However, I am looking for the red ring that says "American Motors Company" on it. The Rallye wheels on my son's Gremlin is are missing three of these. Please let me know if you have some and let's talk!
Concerning the bolt pattern, Chevy Trucks must be different than their passneger cars. For, as I am sure you all will know, you can't bold a Mopar wheel on a Chevy, and visa-versa. Mopars are 4.5, Chevy cars are smaller. If these truck wheels are 4.5, go for them!
Those 2WD Chevy pick up, van ralley wheels that are similar to the '70 to '78 MoPar wheels, are 5 on 5" bolt circle. Early Chevy (prior to '71) bolt circle, was 4 3/4" It has been said, the above GM rally wheels will NOT fit Mopes! Period! The centers and beatuty rings are not the same as MoPar. Plus, the GM are not chromed but argent painted. There are TWO differnt centers for the MoPar wheels. The '70, '71, '72?, two piece die cast centers were changed because if you took the wheel/tire off the car, and it accidentally fell over. The little outside part of the center would break! Those wheels were used on the NYers, Newports and some Dippys up untill around '78 or 9. Maybe, into the VERY early '80's The '72? or '73 up, had the differnt centers, but the rest of the wheel was the same. Should be plenty of 'em left in yards. That is, if the Mope wasn't demoed. To get the '70, 1 centers, be prepaired to pay more for them, than the wheels!

Hey Snotty! Don't you go and pick on my buddy Alumidud. . . .
Findingthem may be a regional thing. I know I can't find much in North Jersey older than 1980, even then less in Mopar. I can't say I have ever seen any in the yards here either! Maybe it's the sea boards.
Rick, if you can find them, then you have a gold mine
