Well, if you give me a list of your parts, I could run it through the software for you. It's gotta be a pretty complete list tho, take a look at my screenshot to see. I've got somethin like 6000 cams in there, and it' supposed to be within 5% of real dyno numbers, so...

The only set of 516's I have measured were 84cc's too. I think it isnt uncommon at all; if you look at teh difference of the Edelbrock closed & open cahmber, it's about 4cc's. The depth of the open portion in them is about the same as in the production open chamber heads, so stock closed vs open chamber factory heads shouldn't have much bigger difference than that.
500 true hp with a performer intake, and I assume factory heads is quite a lot. With some head work, RPM intake or a single plane, and headers, 500 hp should be achievable with the 292/.509 mp cam.
just a comment: seems that engine you want to stroke has a pretty fresh overbore in it. if you were pleased with the performance of the engine before and do not plan major suspension and brake upgrades you might consider the following route: -take your engine apart (watch out to mark pistons to correct bores) -inspect and measure everything for wear -get your block decked to zero with your current pistons -rehone, rering, polish crank, new bearings -maybe good balancing job -maybe nice valve job. -choose sturdy cam -assemble engine and put into car -drive and have fun while getting another block and building another motor on the stand with patience.
an 040 is a pretty aggressive overbore. For new pistons you might have to bore the enxt size --> 060. If you go stroker thick cylinder walls would be really nice, though sonic checking might say it is fine... you still get 440 short blocks for very small amounts of moneys if you got some time. and the cost of the block is not a big factor considering your planned build.
Just an idea from someone who always is on a budget and made the experience that tricked out engine builds can take a long while...

But the question...do I really wanna deck my numbers matching block? And by the time I get all that machine work done, won't it be close to the cost of a stroker kit anyway? [$1500] Right now I'm thinkin about just slapping this motor back together for the time being...just new gaskets and perhaps a carb and intake. Then I'm thinkin I'll find a 400 block and build a 500 stroker. Or somethin like that. I've heard B blocks are better for that kind of idea for some reason, so why not. Either that or I get another RB block and do a 500/528/543 stroker. Plus, do I really need that much more power now, with my factory drum brakes and suspension? [...and trans and rear end] My current idea is to dump the motor money into disc brakes and suspension, then build the motor when that's finished. That way the car will be better [instead of an unstoppable tire melter] in the meantime.
