i just received my 17676 v/body for my vip and i have a question? i know a few people on here are using it. the instructions say to use special spring retainer U17346 but i cant find anywhere to buy it, has anyone else run into this problem? i want the positive shift !drive
second stupid question of the day. i was planning on running a sizzler converter from tci with a stock 440 tci says it should flash about 1800 to 2000 is that too much to be street driven? i have zero experience with a stall so was hoping to get info. thanks in advance

Not sure on the part for the vb.
Street driven and stall is a totally subjective thing. Imo...if you can live with it, whatever works. Mine isn't a daily driver by any means but mine will have a 4200 stall come spring.
If your still looking for a performance increase and still get decent driveabilty anything up to a 2500 would be aok imo.
I have the Cheetah Valve body, but had it installed at the shop when the trans was rebiult. No help, sorry.
When I called around and looked into converters for my mildly built 440, 2500 was the number everyone was telling me. I went ahead and put in a stock on cause I had it and was overwelmed with the decision. It was put in just to see how the motor dealt with it and then decide. It seems to really be holding the motor back. So, a 3000 will probably go in when the heads are swapped.

I put a 2500 in my 69 with a stockish360 and went to a 3000 rpm when i built a big inch LA motor. Id LIKE to think that my numbers (462hp and 520lb/ft) are somewhat camparable to a healthy 440 (RB owners chime in). Having said that, my idle is an even 980 and the 3000 stall is crisp as hell, not sluggish at all. In fact the next time the motor comes out, a 3500 or maybe 3750 will go in due to the fact that my big cam makes it hard to cold idle in gear without tickling the big pedal.
Here's the way I learned it: For any given converter, a bigger engine, heavier car or milder gear will stall higher than a lo-po, deep gear, flyweight car will. Now my 69 is a thin, trim 4192#s and the 415 is only pushin 520lb/ft through a 3.23 gear, and my 3000 Hughes stall is pretty frickin tight. She's crisp, alright, I was actually hoping that with some time, she might loosen up.

Can't help you with the trans part either, but maybe a call to turbo action would clarify things. And while at it, I would also ask their converter recommendation. A '67 VIP isn't actually a light weight car, and from a performance point it will like a higher stall converter to get that boat moving. Nice to see, that we are not the only ones with a '67 VIP, is your car a four door or a coupe? Here is a ton of pics of our project we started to build a year ago, http://kuvablogi.com/blog/745/1 Because of some parts delays and garage problems it took more time than intended, but we got to drive it a couple of times before the winter with an engine taken out of our old family car. Hopefully it's ready next summer, when our driving season begins, and this time has power to really move that thing.
