So my drivers side brake light/signal has finally gone out after several years of working "most of the time." I've pulled everything apart and was able to pull out the cam without removing the column cover (not a great idea, but couldn't get it off).
Do they still make/sell this cam? I couldn't find it anywhere online. Also, is this supposed to come apart or does the entire assembly need to be replaced?

Is your column plain (2 types) or tilt/tele? The switch will come as an assembly. You have to pull the pins out of the pigtail at the bottom of the column and fed the wire through the column.

It's a tilt and telescoping. I found this on eBay not sure if it will work:
I tried to detach the metal bar that is connected to the signal cam, but it doesn't seem like it detaches.
You may have misunderstood me..leave the metal bar alone. The switch needs replacing and you have to remove ALL the wires from the plastic connector to feed the wires through the column
By saying leave it alone, he means don't try to remove it from the orange plastic assembly - yes, it's all one piece, and I believe part B stays connected to part C.

No waayy down the endd of the column where the wires connect to the main dash harness, unplug it and you have to remove the wires from the plastic CONNECTOR. then pull the switch our from the column. Get new switch and feed the wire DOWN through the column. One by one reconnect each and every wire back into the plug
A word to the wise - when you're ready to remove the cam, tie a good unbreakable piece of twine to the wire ends at the bottom BEFORE you pull them up through the column. Leave enough length of the twine coming out the bottom so that when you're ready to install the new switch, you can tie the twine to the new wires to help pull them back down through the column. Otherwise you'll never get them through in a million years.
