someone is trying to sell my buddy a front disc setup from a 66 new yorker to use to convert his 70 300's front drums to disc...... i wasnt aware this is possible ? is this right or is the guy just after his $ ? tx mark
If the disc system is the original factory optional Bendix system it's a VERY good system that's unfortunately fraught with caliper problems and is very hard to service and find parts for (lower ball joints etc). On the other hand if the 66 was retrofitted with a 69 - 73 C body disc brake system, then those parts will bolt right into 300 and are easy to service and work great.

Hi Mark:
C bodies came with two different front disc brake designs. Four piston Budd brakes up to and including 1968 Single piston kelsey hayes brakes 1969 to 1973
Note that the rotors and spindles for 1969-1972 are different from the 1973 rotors and spindles.
The only question is does your friend have the 1969-1972 spindles and rotors or the 1973 spindles and rotors which he would need to know if he ever needs to replace the rotors.
My 1967 Polara 500 Convertible came with the Budd brakes which I somewhat sadly changed to the 1973 front disc set up. This was mainly due to the cost and availability of parts for the Budd brakes, especially the lower ball joints! In my opinion the Budd brakes are a much better design and work flawlessly on my very heavy 1969 LeBaron Coupe.
